How does hearing loss occur?

The volume and duration of noise at which you are exposed to has direct correlation to potential hearing loss. A louder noise is more likely to cause hearing impairment. Noise of 85 dBA can damage your ear with 8 hours. With every 3 dB of excess noise above, the time it takes to damage your hearing gets halved. For a noise which is 100 dB loud, 15 minutes is enough to cause permanent hearing loss.
